Green Acres By Nicole DeCamp from Benartex

I’ll admit it: Green Acres had a bit of an unfair advantage with me from the beginning.

I’m a farm girl. Throughout my life, I’ve been known at various times as both “the horse girl” and “the crazy chicken lady.” But honestly, I don’t discriminate. 😂 I love farm animals in general.

Well... animals, really.

But there are a LOT of farm-themed fabric collections out there, and I certainly can’t bring all of them into the shop. But I knew immediately when I saw Green Acres that it had to make the cut because the artwork is absolutely beautiful—and the colors just POP.

The rich navy blues, bright reds, soft greens and blues, warm tans, and those gorgeous golden sunflowers make the whole collection feel vibrant and happy while still keeping that warm, country feel.

And the animals themselves are beautifully illustrated. The horses have movement and personality. The cows look like actual cows. The chickens and chicks are ridiculously charming. There are pigs, sheep, barns, flowers, and little details tucked everywhere.

The Prints I Chose for Nuts & Bolts

I chose seven of my favorite prints from Green Acres for the shop, including the six-block panel and the gorgeous farm border print.

The selection has a little bit of everything I love about this collection—horses, chickens, cows, pigs and sheep, along with barns, sunflowers and all sorts of farm goodness. The panel gives us six different little farm scenes to play with, while the border print pulls so many of the animals, colors and elements of the collection together into one fabric.

And that’s another thing that makes me so excited about this collection: I can already see these fabrics becoming the foundation for several different kits—not just one single design.

There are so many different directions we can go with them. We could build something around the panel, let that gorgeous border print do some of the heavy lifting in another quilt, spotlight the horses in one project, or take the whole collection in a completely different direction by changing the blenders and supporting fabrics.

That’s the kind of collection I love bringing into the shop—not just something beautiful on the bolt, but fabric that immediately starts giving me ideas.

And Green Acres is giving me a LOT of ideas. 😂
