Exploring Diamond Log Cabin Quilts with Morgan Levey

Inspired by Morgan Levey’s beautiful Twilight Star quilt, Beyond the Twilight Stars will take you step-by-step through creating a striking quilt using diamond log cabin blocks, 1/4 log cabin blocks, and Y seams, in a traditional starburst layout.

Students can choose from three project sizes, or take it one step further and create a quilt in a size all their own! If you choose to customize your project, Morgan will teach you how to do the math and determine the blocks, layout, and measurements needed to make your quilt the size you want.

Everyone will be able to work at their own pace, with Morgan there to demonstrate techniques, answer questions, and provide hands-on guidance along the way. You’ll learn not only how to create your class project, but skills you can use to adapt diamond log cabin designs for future quilts, too.

Whether diamond log cabins are completely new to you or you’re ready to stretch your quilting skills a little further, this class is designed to be a fun, positive, and supportive place to learn, experiment, and create something beautiful.

The exact class schedule will be flexible. Because the class begins around the holidays, dates for subsequent sessions will be determined together as we go, allowing us to work around holiday schedules and give students the time they need to progress comfortably through their projects.

You'll choose the size of quilt you want to make and work at your own pace throughout the class. Whether you'd rather start with a smaller project or you're ready to tackle something larger, you can choose the project that's right for you.

Learn at Your Own Pace

This isn't about keeping up with the person sitting next to you!

Morgan will demonstrate techniques, answer questions, and help each student progress through their own quilt. You'll have the opportunity to learn the skills involved in creating beautiful star designs while working at a pace that's comfortable for you.

Rather than simply following a pattern on your own, you'll have hands-on instruction and help when you need it—and you'll come away with techniques you can use in future quilting projects, too.

You don't have to be an expert quilter to join us. If you've been wanting to try a more intricate quilt but haven't quite had the confidence to tackle one on your own, this is a wonderful opportunity to give it a try in a fun, positive, and supportive environment.
